In response to last night’s incident in Algeciras, the Gibraltar Contingency Council (GCC) met this morning, 26th January, to review security matters. The meeting was co-chaired by his Excellency the Governor and the Chief Minister.
The PDP has today expressed their concern over the delay in the development of the ‘proposed Commonwealth Park’. The Party has insisted that ‘any clear thinker would have waited until a definitive and realistic start date was announced before digging it up and blocking any access for pedestrians along that stretch of Queensway’.
The PDP have requested information on how much the project has cost so far and under what conditions the land was leased to the Government of Gibraltar, including any provisions the Government has made to re-provide these parking’s if, and when, the developer wants the land back?
On Tuesday 2nd April RGP Officers arrested Joseph Farrell Duncan Cunningham, aged 52, on the strength of a European Arrest Warrant issued by the Lothian and Borders Judiciary for sexual offences towards children, these offences allegedly occurred in Scotland between the years of 1990 and 1995.
Gibraltar is set to host its own Runway show this May. Event organisers are appealing to young talented designers to enter for a chance to win the opportunity to showcase their talent in a solo show alongside professional celebrity designers. Winners will also receive portfolio prints of their collection along with international media coverage in the fashion industry.
The event will take place on Saturday 4th May on the terrace of the Kings Bastion Leisure Centre. International fashion designers are expected to display their collections during the night with catwalk shows in the Main tent. UK designer William Wilde and Gori de Palma of Barcelona will headline the catwalk show.
As reported yesterday, six injured soldiers arrived in Gibraltar yesterday thanks to UK based charity, ‘Give us Time’. The soldiers, Cpl David Bainbridge, Lance Cpl Joe Fiddaman, Trooper Ben Barton, Lance Sgt Lee Sample, Lance Sgt Andrew Wilson and Colour Sgt Thomas O’Donnell all worked with the Brigade Reconnaissance Force which operates deep in Taleban territory, looking for enemy activity or mentoring the Afghan Security Forces away from the main British bases.
The soldiers, who were met at the Airport yesterday by Tourism Minister Neil Costa and Miss World 2009 Kaiane Aldorino will spend their holiday aboard a Gibraltar based Super Yacht.
