The Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo, today met with the Foreign Secretary, Rt Hon Lord David Cameron, at the Foreign Office in London in order to discuss the outstanding issues and matters in the ongoing negotiation with the European Union in relation to Gibraltar.
UEFA President, Mr Michel Platini will visit Gibraltar this Saturday in order to view the Rock Cup final. He will be accompanied by Theodore Theodoridis UEFA Deputy General Secretary, Jean Francios Domergue Head of Football Development at UEFA and Kevin Lamour Head of President’s Office. The UEFA president will watch the final as ‘Guest of Honour’ and will be introduced to both teams prior to kick off. He will then present the ‘Rock Cup’ to the winners after the game.
Ground works will take place within the runway section of Winston Churchill Avenue this weekend.
British Forces Gibraltar Contractors will carry out the works overnight on both Friday and Saturday to keep the traffic and airfield disruption to a minimum.
Customs yesterday arrested 19 Spanish nationals and 1 Romanian in an operation targeting the illegal exportation of cigarettes via the eastern coastline.
A total of 28,620 cigarettes were recovered and 4 cars detained.
In a minor road traffic accident at 9am this morning on the dual carriageway by Harbour Views, a local hit and drove into the flower bed dividing the roads. Although the driver appeared to be in shock, no serious injuries were recorded.
