The Government says it notes, “with disappointment”, the European Parliament’s objection, today, to the entry into force of the European Commission’s decision to remove certain jurisdictions, including Gibraltar, from the EU’s list of ‘high-risk’ third-countries with strategic deficiencies as regards anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (“AML/CFT”).
Diane MacLennan, Grand Circle Travel Area Manager for the British Isles, Iceland and Scandinavia, was recently in Gibraltar to acquaint herself with the cruise industry and wider local tourist product during a familiarisation visit to the Rock.
The GSD has said that the Government's statement on legal aid yesterday by Minister Licudi is “typical of their approach to all matters inconvenient to them” adding that “attack for them seems to be the best form of defence.” The Opposition believes that, in doing so, the Government is stifling political debate on important issues such as this one.
