Following a recent Government announcement to shut the car park opposite the former air terminal building, creator of the petition against the move, Sonia McKay has written to the Deputy Chief Minister to put across the issues that many individuals who often travel into Spain, will have nowhere to leave their vehicles.
During the month of January. The Royal Gibraltar Police carried out an extensive enforcement action to counter tobacco related illicit activities in Gibraltar and by the Frontier. The clamp down resulted in 20 arrests for the possession of a Commercial Quantity of Tobacco, 3 arrests for the concealment of tobacco in public and 4 arrests for exporting a commercial quantity of tobacco. The arrests came about in sixteen different incidents.
On Wednesday evening at the Caleta Hotel we were treated to the first of four Master Classes planned for this year's Tradewise Gibraltar Chess Festival. Two players shared duties at the commentary desk: Elisabeth Paehtz (Germany's top female player) and England's Nigel Short.

Visiting the annual 2014 Tradewise Chess Festival yesterday at the Caleta hotel, His Excellency the Governor and Lady Dutton were met by tournament organiser Brian Callaghan, Tamara Stewart-Wilson and tournament director Stuart Conquest. Also there to greet him were sponsors James Humphreys from Tradewise and Denis Llafferty from Saccone & Speed and Coca Cola.
