European Commission Executive Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič, Spanish Minister for ForeignAffairs José Manuel Albares and UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron, together with the Chief Minister of Gibraltar Fabian Picardo, met in Brussels on Thursday 16th May.
Following months of data collection, the Upper Rock Ape Management team, along with the Chairman of the research panel for the Gibraltar Barbary macaques, Professor Agustin Fuentes are well on their way to bringing to light the macaques sporadic movements around the Rock, as well as their incursions into the more built up areas.
The period of data collection has included the largest study of ranging via remote and satellite telemetry of non-human primates. The study will attempt to facilitate and improve management of the macaques.
This evening Opposition Leader Daniel Feetham released a statement on the party’s view of current events. During recent weeks the Party has reserved its opinions on the on-going dispute with Spain, in order to allow the Government to work towards fixing the issue.
Mr. Feetham today touches upon the Party’s view that the Chief Minister should meet with Spanish fishermen to explain legislation changes face to face.
