The Government says it notes, “with disappointment”, the European Parliament’s objection, today, to the entry into force of the European Commission’s decision to remove certain jurisdictions, including Gibraltar, from the EU’s list of ‘high-risk’ third-countries with strategic deficiencies as regards anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (“AML/CFT”).
A 27-year-old man facing several charges including attempted rape, trespassing with intent to commit a sexual offence and the possession of a bladed article in a public place was remanded in custody after appearing at the Magistrates’ Court this morning.
A Basking Shark was spotted off Europa Point yesterday. The Department of the Environment and Climate Change's (DECC) Environmental Protection and Research Unit attended the scene and obtained valuable data on the shark including photos of the fin which will now be shared with experts to determine whether the shark has been spotted elsewhere. The shark was around 7-8m in length indicating that it was an adult. These sharks can last up to 50 years.
The Ministry of Culture has announced the Gibraltar-Berlin Artist in Residence Exchange Programme for artists working in any medium. The programme is particularly for those interested in developing their work in urban public spaces. This residency will be organised by Gibraltar Cultural Services on behalf of the Government of Gibraltar and Lichtenberg Studios.
