The Government says it notes, “with disappointment”, the European Parliament’s objection, today, to the entry into force of the European Commission’s decision to remove certain jurisdictions, including Gibraltar, from the EU’s list of ‘high-risk’ third-countries with strategic deficiencies as regards anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (“AML/CFT”).
The Government wishes to thank the emergency services and the technical staff of Gibelec for their excellent work at the Waterport power station on Sunday afternoon. The response was led by the Gibraltar Electricity Authority, the Royal Gibraltar Police and the City Fire Brigade, who were ably assisted by the Defence Fire Service.
The UK Labour party has written to UK Ministers asking them to confirm if the average border delay between Gibraltar and Spain now stands at over 90 minutes long.
The party claims that the latest data collected on the ground in Gibraltar, and seen by Labour, suggests that the average delay in March for travellers leaving Gibraltar and crossing into Spain was 91 minutes long, whilst the longest individual delay recorded at the crossing last month was 180 minutes long.
Yesterday evening in a friendly match against Hungary, the GFA’s Under 19s National Squad drew 2 – 2 at the Victoria Stadium. Goals for the home side were scored by Aaron Barnet and Anthony Hernandez within the first half of the match.
