Nov 20 - Letter Scam Targets Personal Bank Details
The public has been advised by the RGP, of the latest scam directed at members of the community in Gibraltar.
Numerous people have reported receiving a letter suggesting that a next of kin or family member has died and left assets of about €5,700,000 (the amount may vary).
Typically the ‘dead’ person is named as someone with the same surname as the recipient of the letter. The letter goes on to ask the recipient to contact the sender for further details. The letter carries a ‘Van & Co Solicitors’ letterhead and is signed by a ‘Van Potter’
Anyone receiving this letter is urged to disregard the contents as they are an attempt to establish the recipient’s personal and banking details with a view to defrauding them in the future.
