The Government has today announced the imminent launch of the Gibraltar Electronic Identity Card. This new e-ID Card is validated as a travel document which will be recognised at points of entry throughout the EEA, eliminating problems previously experienced by some carriers of the current Gibraltar ID cards at certain points of entry within EU Member States.
The twelve Mrs Gibraltar ladies have chosen their contestant numbers for the beauty pageant. Miss Gibraltar Shyanne Azzopardi attended a ceremony held yesterday evening in Latino’s in Casemates.
The Minister for the Environment and Climate Change, Dr John Cortes, has just returned from high-level meetings in Geneva, Switzerland. Dr Cortes was accompanied by Professor Daniella Tilbury, who will shortly take up the post of Vice Chancellor of the University of Gibraltar, in her current role as adviser to the UN on Sustainability. The visit follows on from last year's workshop on Sustainability organised in Gibraltar by Prof. Tilbury and the Department of the Environment.
The GSD has this afternoon said that it is typical of the GSLP-Liberal Government that it should try and “air brush away” criticisms about the way the Government has prioritised the extension to No 6 Convent Place over very much needed works on some of Gibraltar’s “forgotten schools” with what it calls the “standard and tiresome line” that everything the GSD did in education, as in other areas, was a failure.
There are just three more days left before James Foot’s exhibition of Gibraltar-themed watercolours closes at the Fine Arts Gallery in Casemates. The artist’s work captures colonial buildings, balconies, shutters and the long evening shadows as the fall across the Rock’s historical sites. We caught up with James earlier today…
