The Government will today publish a Command Paper in advance of its proposed Freedom of Information (FOI) legislation. Number Six says that this legislation is in line with the GSLP/Liberal Government’s “many commitments to transparency and openness.”
The Opposition says it has read and digested the “thorough and comprehensive” Report produced by Sir Jonathan Parker in relation to the Dr Giraldi Home Inquiry.
This weekend all service users of the KGV mental health facility were moved to their new residence at the recently completed Ocean Views facility located in the former Royal Naval Hospital building. Following on from a private tour of the premises for the press last week, the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo, Health Minister Dr John Cortes, CEO of the GHA Freddie Pitto and Mental Health Services Unit General Manager Christopher Chipolina today spoke of their delight over the new facility.
In an article published in the Guardian newspaper on Saturday, Labour Party leader Ed Miliband took a firm stance on UK tax havens. He announced that he was sending a letter to all the Crown Dependencies and Overseas Territories in which he would ‘give six months to these tax havens to agree to publish a register of beneficial ownership and if they do not act we will recommend to the OECD that they are put on a blacklist.’

The Government notes that Mr Feetham recently stated on GBC and has repeated in a Press Release that the Expenditure of No 6 Convent Place, the Chief Minister’s Office for 2013/14 was 45% higher than the sum provided in the Approved Estimates and that Expenditure in that year for all Government Departments was £50M higher than the amount estimated.
