A Government press release has stated the following:

“The GSD has chosen to ignore, or more likely cannot understand the main points in the latest Government press release on the issue.

“It has failed to acknowledge the facts regarding how a waiting list works, the fact that more conditions are being identified, that in some disciplines patients are now being operated who have been waiting for over a decade, and the fact that they totally mismanaged the running of the surgical department when in Government. This included decreasing the number of surgeons, which caused a pile up of cases.

“The GSD's attempts to spin their way into creating the false impression of a crisis will be put right when the various initiatives currently in preparation have been implemented.”
