Nov 15 Defenders Of Gibraltar - European Commission Appeases Spain
The Defenders of Gibraltar are disappointed by the recent statement by the EU Commission, which is a clear and blatant attempt to side step the serious issue of politically motivated Frontier Queues which Gibraltar has had to endure since the reopening of the Frontier. Many Gibraltarians and other nationalities that work in Gibraltar are rightly angry to read that the European Commission did not find evidence to conclude that Spanish authorities had infringed upon the relevant provisions of Union law.
It appears that either the whole of Gibraltar is under some new form of mass hypnosis and completely imagined politically motivated 8-hour queues and intimidation of individuals, or perhaps that the wining and dining of European Commission representatives by Spanish officials during their visit to the Frontier obviously paid off. It is clear to all that the European Union cannot and do not want to help Gibraltar and its people with regards to the constant attacks we have directed at us by successive Spanish Governments. They have essentially given a statement expected when one follows an appeasement policy, and kicked the issue into the long grass. The Defenders of Gibraltar do not believe that the EU Flag deserves to be raised at the border alongside that of the Union Jack and Gibraltar flag, seeing as they have essentially inadvertently emboldened the bully next door and at the same time insulted the intelligence of those who live and work in Gibraltar. The Defenders of Gibraltar will continue to tackle Spanish harassment and inform the wider world of its attitude and treatment of Gibraltar and its people. On Saturday the 30th November 2013, we will be demonstrating peacefully to that effect in London outside the Spanish Embassy.
