The Government has said that the Chief Minister has made it perfectly clear that “In a democratic society everyone is free to express whatever view they wish on any matter, and the Government will always defend that right.”
2015 sees general elections in the United Kingdom, Spain and Gibraltar. It does not take a young politics aficionado like myself to realize the importance of the outcomes of these elections for my 30,000 compatriots in Gibraltar.
The GSD has today said that it will not take any lessons from the GSLP-Liberals on what does or does not give ammunition to the Spanish Press or Spanish Politicians and that the Chief Minister “appears to have forgotten that we live in a democracy where it is the duty of Opposition parties to hold the Government to account and to do so on behalf of the people.”
Number Six says it is “quite extraordinary” for the Opposition to argue that their record in Government is somehow irrelevant to whatever they may say or do at present.
The Government appears to have no valid answers to any political criticism save to criticise the former GSD Government, according to the Opposition’s latest press release.
