Feb 02 - Minister For Education Attends Meetings In London And Malta On The Gibraltar University

The Minister for Education, Gilbert Licudi, returned last week from a visit to Malta where he held a series of meetings in connection with the University of Gibraltar. Mr Licudi discussed with Professor Juanito Camilleri, the Rector of the University of Malta, various areas of collaboration between the two universities including in the area of Mediterranean Studies in which the University of Malta already has a very successful programme.

Feb 02 - “The Chief Minister Caught Out Again” Says GSD

The GSD has today repeated its concerns about the huge increases in net public debt and the way the Government is “using the Gibraltar Savings Bank to fund Government expenditure and projects despite assurances by the Chief Minister in his New Year Message that not one penny of monies from Credit Finance is being used to fund Government projects or expenditure.”

Jan 30 - Initial GSD Response To Giraldi Home Inquiry

Pending the publication of the full Report on the Dr Giraldi Home Inquiry, the Opposition, at this stage, says it welcomes the fact that out of a voluminous and exhaustive document, comprising 4 volumes, 16 chapters and 10 annexes, the Chief Minister’s brief conclusion of the same is simply that “any instances of mismanagement, misconduct and malpractice at the Home were infrequent and at the lower age of the scale for this type of behaviour”.
