In response to the GSD’s recent statement on their invitation to appear on GBC’s Viewpoint yesterday evening the Government has insisted that GBC ‘is bound to implement the Gibraltar Regulatory Authority’s Code on due accuracy, due impartiality and due prominence when assembling a panel for debate that includes political representation.’
The GSD is stunned by the attitude of the Chief Minister towards the freedom of press and the rights of people to hold a debate democratically.
The GSD had been invited to send a representative to tonight’s Viewpoint programme and had elected to send Marlene Nahon, an executive member of the party and as many will know, our candidate at the 2012 by election.
The Committee of the All Party Parliamentary Gibraltar Group met on Tuesday evening in an emergency session to elect a Chairman to fill the post made vacant by the sudden death of Jim Dobbin.
In line with the Government’s manifesto commitment to regulate fishing, diving and other marine activities in British Gibraltar Territorial Waters (BGTW), the Government has today published the Marine Protection Regulations 2014 as well as the Tuna Preservation Regulations 2014 with the latter regulations specifically catering for the regulation of tuna fishing activities in BGTW. A number of other related enabling regulations have also been published.
