His Excellency The Governor VE Day 80 Message
08 May 2025

A statement from the Office of The Governor follows below:
VE day is an opportunity to pause and remember those who gave so much during the Second World War. It is all the more poignant in Gibraltar, given that every single person on the Rock was directly involved, either through combat, the war effort, bombardment or evacuation. The Gibraltarian community was directly impacted for so many years after the War ended by the slow return of evacuees, and we feel the echoes of that today.
His Excellency The Governor joins the Government and the people of Gibraltar in thanking those who made such great sacrifices.
