SSAFA Gibraltar says it is proud to announce that its Chairman, Alan Jones, has been awarded the Sir James Gildea Award in recognition of his outstanding voluntary service and leadership within the Gibraltar Serving Community Team.

A statement continued: “The award was kindly presented on behalf of SSAFA by the Commander British Forces Gibraltar, a meaningful gesture reflecting the strong partnership between SSAFA and the local military community.

“The Sir James Gildea Awards, named after SSAFA’s founder, are one of the organisation’s highest honours. They recognise volunteers and staff whose exceptional commitment and service embody SSAFA’s core values and make a lasting difference to the Armed Forces community.

“Since joining SSAFA, Alan has built and nurtured a thriving team of volunteers dedicated to strengthening community connections, reducing social isolation, and offering a listening ear to those in need. Under his leadership, SSAFA Gibraltar has provided a consistent and compassionate presence, coordinating support for those facing welfare challenges, financial hardship, or simply in need of someone to talk to.

“Through his energy, vision, and people-focused approach, Alan has helped ensure that no member of the serving community in Gibraltar has to battle alone.”

“I’m incredibly honoured to receive the Sir James Gildea Award, but it really reflects the hard work and heart of our whole team here in Gibraltar,” said Alan Jones, Chairman of SSAFA Gibraltar.

“SSAFA is about people – being there for one another, building connections, and making sure no one feels alone. I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together, and grateful to be part of such a committed and caring community.”

Brewing Connections – Coffee Morning Returns

As we return after the summer break, SSAFA Gibraltar warmly invites all members of the community (military or civilians) to our next Coffee Morning on Thursday 4th September at 10:30am, held at King’s Chapel.
