Sir David Steel Appointed as Chair of CWEIC Gibraltar

The Commonwealth Enterprise & Investment Council (CWEIC) has announced the appointment of Vice Admiral Sir David Steel KBE KStJ DL as the new Chair of the Gibraltar Hub.
Commenting on his appointment, Sir David Steel, Chair of the CWEIC Gibraltar Hub, said:
"I am honoured to take up the role of Chair of the Gibraltar Hub. Having had the privilege of serving Gibraltar as Governor, I know first-hand the strength of its people and its unique position within the Commonwealth. I look forward to working with CWEIC and our partners to build on these foundations and to promote opportunities for Gibraltar across the Commonwealth network."
Lord Marland, Chairman of CWEIC, welcomed the appointment, saying:
"I am delighted to welcome Sir David Steel as our new Gibraltar Hub Chair. Sir David brings with him an exceptional record of leadership, both in the Royal Navy and in his service as Governor of Gibraltar. His experience and deep connection to Gibraltar and the Commonwealth will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen trade and investment ties through the Gibraltar Hub."
Adding her support, Samantha Cohen CVO OBE, Chief Executive of CWEIC, said:
"We are very pleased to have Sir David join CWEIC as Chair of the Gibraltar Hub. His distinguished career, spanning decades of military service and public leadership, together with his continuing commitment to Gibraltar, will provide vital guidance and support to our work across the region."
CWEIC says it looks forward to working with Sir David in his new role to strengthen Gibraltar’s links with Commonwealth markets, supporting the development of new trade and investment opportunities and ensuring that Gibraltar plays a central part in CWEIC’s growing global network of hubs.
CWEIC is a membership organisation with an official mandate from the Commonwealth Heads of Government to facilitate trade and investment throughout the 56 Commonwealth member nations. The role of CWEIC is to use the convening power and trusted network of the Commonwealth, which is led by His Majesty The King, to drive trade and investment.
