June 05 - Gibraltar’s First Ever Pride Event Announced
The equality rights group ERG-GGR is pleased to announce that this year Gibraltar will be celebrating its first ever official Pride event on Saturday 15th June. Doors open at 10pm until 5am. It is Pride and not just ‘gay Pride’ because it is a celebration of friendship and diversity right across all our adult community. It is inclusive, not exclusive and everyone is welcome.
A spokesperson said: “It will be a fun party/disco night with great music, a splendid dance floor, a DJ, and spectacular views of the sea and the luxury and garden setting of ‘Dusk’, Ocean Village, to whom we are grateful for the sponsorship along with Positive Business, the equality business organisation.”
Official Pride 2013 is hosted by Omi-Palone Social Events (OMSE) in collaboration with Equality Rights Group. Advance ticket purchase details can be found via the Facebook pages for Equality Rights Group and/or Omi Palone. Tickets will also be available at the door on the night.
OMSE’s CEO, River Mills, stated: “We are delighted to host this official event alongside ERG-GGR. And we invite anyone and everyone regardless of personal status, who wants to have a great fun night out on the 15th to join us and come along to celebrate their own uniqueness in respect and friendship for who and what we all are. Entry is limited to 550, so to avoid disappointment, it’s wise to get your ticket in advance!”
In closing, the GGR further called “for all of us to build solidarity and community together. The focus for the next 5 years of the group’s work is to increasingly provide more and more quality social events, more and more opportunities for people of all sorts to get to know each other and have fun – and to spread more and more understanding throughout the whole community of Gibraltar.”
