June 05 - Long Service And Good Conduct Medal Presentation
Commanding Officer Lt Col Colin Risso presented two Long Service and Good Conduct (LS & GC) Medals today. The LS & GC medal is awarded to personnel who have demonstrated 15 years of exemplary and irreproachable conduct.
The first to be presented the medal was WO2 Christian Canepa who joined the Regiment in January 1997 as an Infantryman. He has been employed as a Section Commander and later as a Platoon Sergeant. He deployed to Afghanistan on Operation Herrick 6 when he was attached to 1 Royal Anglian. Throughout his military career he has also deployed to BATUS in Canada, Cyprus and Gambia as well as numerous exercises in the UK and Morocco. In September 2012 he was promoted to WO2 and assumed the role of Training Wing Warrant Officer.
Also receiving his LS & GC medal was Cpl Michael Tierney who joined the Regiment in November 1997. After completing basic training he joined G Company as an Infantryman. He went on tour to Northern Ireland with the Royal Irish in May 2003 and was part of the first Gambian Roller Training team which deployed to the Gambia in 2006. Cpl Tierney moved in the Catering Platoon on completion of his Chef Class 2 training. He was promoted to Cpl in August 2012.
