Nov 15 - GibElec Apology for Disconnection Letters
The Gibraltar Electricity Authority (Gibelec) yesterday apologised to those Civil Servants and other employees who, due to an administrative failing, have received disconnection letters from Gibelec in the last few weeks.
These employees opted for automatic deductions to be taken from their wages and salaries to pay their ‘Municipal Services’ utility bills. However, in recent weeks the speed at which these individual deductions are calculated and information supplied to Gibelec has fallen behind Gibelec’s automatic billing and collection system. As a consequence, Gibelec’s disconnection notices have been triggered automatically.
Gibelec assured all affected employees that the matter has been resolved and to confirm that no disconnections will take place.
