Aug 22 - Gibraltar Macaques Featured in BBC Report
This morning the BBC One Breakfast show featured a video report on the Gibraltar Barbary Macaques, and the Government’s efforts to remove them from urban areas on the Rock, and send them back up to the nature reserve.
The report was compiled by the BBC’s Madrid Correspondent, Tom Burridge, who covered last August’s elevation in the Gibraltar/ Spain Dispute. Within the news piece, the BBC speaks to tourists on Main Street who express their surprise at catching sight of the macaques in the town. Tom Burridge also speaks to the Loreto Convent headmaster about the issues the school has faced with an increasing number of the Macaques frequenting the area.
The report goes on to state that thirty of the monkeys are set to be exported to a safari park abroad.
The report can we viewed online here.
