The Government says it notes, “with disappointment”, the European Parliament’s objection, today, to the entry into force of the European Commission’s decision to remove certain jurisdictions, including Gibraltar, from the EU’s list of ‘high-risk’ third-countries with strategic deficiencies as regards anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (“AML/CFT”).
Voting in the European Parliament this morning on an update to the Single European Sky legislation, MEPs have chosen to exclude Gibraltar from the legislation, which covers the safe and efficient utilisation of airspace and the air traffic management system, within the EU.
Following an interview in the Gibraltar Chronicle, in which Miss Gibraltar Maroua Kharbouch expressed her “disappointment” at not being considered a Gibraltarian, the Government has replied by clarifying the various definitions of “Gibraltarian” and the benefits associated therewith.
