Sep 24 - GHA Board Meeting Discusses A&E Waiting Times and New Mental Health Facility
This afternoon’s public board meeting of the Gibraltar Health Authority acknowledged recently appointed CEO, Freddie Pitto’s post at the head of the board. Commenting on his first meeting, Mr. Pitto thanked GHA staff members for their assistance throughout his first few weeks as CEO. He insisted that he was proud and honoured to take the position and complimented the Authority on the fantastic and significant changes that have come about recently. He also acknowledged the gaps and challenges that the GHA had yet to face. He noted, ‘ It’s going to be a long journey ahead with many challenges.’ He explained that they were working on implementing a new Management structure through their first strategic plan since 2009.
The Laguna Youth Club held a fun-packed barbeque on the eve of National Day. The members themselves came up with the idea of hosting this end-of-summer event in which young people could develop a number of skills, such as cooking and arts & crafts, whilst preparing and running the barbeque.
The Dolphins Youth Club was busy over the summer months with various, well-attended, local activities. Young persons actively involved in club events throughout the year saw their hard work and dedication rewarded in the form of various fun events and trips.
With the intention of keeping members of the public regularly informed on the progress of the Dr Giraldi Home enquiry, a statement released today touched upon the inquiry’s current stage, including the process of contacting witnesses who may have evidence of assistance to the inquiry. Relevant authorities have also been contacted for statements. Witnesses at the main hearing will include Government ministers and representatives from the management of the Dr Giraldi Home, the Care Agency, the Royal Gibraltar Police and the Attorney General’s Chambers.
