The Government says it notes, “with disappointment”, the European Parliament’s objection, today, to the entry into force of the European Commission’s decision to remove certain jurisdictions, including Gibraltar, from the EU’s list of ‘high-risk’ third-countries with strategic deficiencies as regards anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (“AML/CFT”).
An extensive search and rescue operation carried out early on Saturday morning by the Gibraltar Emergency services discovered a Syrian man, suffering from shock, hyperthermia and scraped hands after him and another Syrian national jumped from a bulk carrier they were working on. The ship, the MV Rising Falcon had been anchored in BGTW until 3am on Saturday when it left the area. The men had intended to swim to shore.

UK Representative for the Gibraltar Government, Albert Poggio GMH OBE received a Commendation at the prestigious Annual Grassroot Diplomat Initiatives Awards ceremony, held at the Mayfair Hotel in London last night.
Mr. Poggio expressed his immense honour in receiving the award, which ‘celebrates and applauds heroes and heroines who have fought in the name of justice, peace and good governance.’
