The Government says it notes, “with disappointment”, the European Parliament’s objection, today, to the entry into force of the European Commission’s decision to remove certain jurisdictions, including Gibraltar, from the EU’s list of ‘high-risk’ third-countries with strategic deficiencies as regards anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (“AML/CFT”).
Following the success of the Parks and Playgrounds Maintenance Programme, the Minister for Sports, Steven Linares, is pleased to announce that the Gibraltar Sports and Leisure Authority (GSLA) has set up a playgrounds hotline. This hotline can be used by the public to report faults or offer suggestions for improvements to facilities. The Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Joseph Garcia, has told Members of the European Parliament that the exclusion of Gibraltar from EU civil aviation legislation would be “illegal” and “contrary to the Treaties”. Dr Garcia is in Brussels on a lobbying visit in order to increase awareness among key MEPs about Gibraltar issues.
