UK George Cross campaigners, Conservative MP Oliver Colvile, and Kevin Kelway of the UK Friends of Gibraltar Group have been on a formal visit to Gibraltar to meet with a number of dignitaries . They have been hosted by Equality Rights Group Chairman Felix Alvarez.
It was a rare sight with cricket being played in December in Gibraltar. However, despite the cool and blustery easterly wind whipping through the stadium, the pre-Christmas match between the Gibraltar Cricket President’s XI and our visiting guests, the House of Lords and Commons XI took place on Saturday.
The GSD says it is concerned with the outcome of interviews, held some months ago, with the recent announcement that all three competing applicants ended up obtaining the single post advertised of District Nursing Charge Nurse/Sister Manager at the Primary Care Centre, despite this not having been announced beforehand. The GSD argues that this is surprising as due process in the recruitment of GHA managerial personnel appears to have been changed without explanation. The Opposition says this move defies logic as the “goalposts seem to have moved.”
