Young people from Laguna Youth Club are currently busy decorating the youth club to make the Halloween Community Event 2013 as popular as last year’s event. There are plenty of opportunities for young people to develop their personal skills by their involvement in the preparation and running of the event. Examples of these skills are cooking and art and crafts.

Este domingo pasado entré en Gibraltar y la frontera sigue igual, no voy a volver a insistir en todo lo que ya he dicho en mis artículos sobre lo que pienso del Gobierno español y la utilización que hacen de una frontera para coaccionar a una población que no quiere ser española, tan sólo apunto que para frenar estos abusos del “patriota” de Mariano Rajoy hay una solución muy sencilla. En Reino Unido hay bancos españoles, yo pediría que ningún británico abra cuentas en esos bancos y los que lo hayan hecho que las cierren como solidaridad con una población que su único pecado es que se sienten británicos desde hace trescientos años y quieren seguir así. A ver si tomando medidas la población británica este esperpento de gobierno que tenemos en mi país se entera de lo siguiente:
1 - Que no se puede coaccionar a una población con una frontera.
2 - Que Gibraltar no es ningún paraíso fiscal porque no está considerado así por la UE, y que lo que tienen que hacer es firmar los acuerdos que tienen el resto de los países en vez de decir estupideces.
3 - Que Gibraltar sí que tiene aguas territoriales tal y como queda plasmado en el Derecho Internacional Marítimo, por lo que en sus aguas territoriales tira los bloques que les sale de los cojones.
4 - Que al estar dentro de su jurisdicción, amplían los espigones que les de la gana y construyen las infraestructuras que consideren oportunas.
5 - Que si hay contrabando de tabaco se frene con las mismas medidas con las que se actúa en Andorra que también lo hay, y no excusarse en ese hecho para “torturar” a los habitantes del Peñón y a los miles de españoles que trabajan en él.
6 - Que la última palabra en cuanto a la soberanía de Gibraltar, sus aguas territoriales y su espacio aéreo la tienen los gibraltareños, tal y como ha confirmado Naciones Unidas.
7 - Que la pesca de arrastre en esa zona está rigurosamente prohibida por la UE y tienen todo el derecho a controlar la pesca en sus aguas.
8 - Que hay miles de españoles que no somos deficientes mentales, que hemos estudiado historia y que nos solidarizamos también con la población gibraltareña, y que si nuestro Gobierno afirma que Ceuta y Melilla son “plazas españolas”, denominación que no existe, apoyamos que Gibraltar sea lo que quieran ser los gibraltareños.
Y, además, pediría a todos los británicos que viven o pasan temporadas en España que no abran ninguna cuenta en ninguna entidad española, a ver si de esta manera se da cuenta esta caterva de impresentables que nos gobiernan que con las personas no se juegan.
The Government has said that the Leader of the Opposition’s decision to walk out of Parliament instead of discussing the issues that he disagreed with is both “disproportionate and immature”.
The statement continues: “The Opposition are paid for by the taxpayer to try to change the minds of the Government and hold the Government to account. They cannot fulfill their obligation to the taxpayer from the street.
“Moreover, the Opposition seem to have conveniently forgotten that when they were in Government they refused to supply information in Parliament on countless occasions. This did not result in the then Opposition performing theatrical publicity stunts of this kind.
The Chief Minister and Leader of the House, Fabian Picardo said:
“The Opposition has failed in its duty to the people of Gibraltar. Mr Feetham has made a big song and dance of walking out of Parliament alleging he was “shocked” that we would not provide a breakdown of the sums lent by Credit Finance Company Ltd. In fact, Mr Feetham said he was expecting that to be our answer – so his shock is clearly only a pretence he affected to try to add drama to his stunt.
“Mr Feetham seems surprisingly more concerned about the £300m the Savings Bank has invested in Credit Finance, which is owned and backed by the Government, and does not seem to care about the half a billion (£500m) invested in other, third party entities. It is clear that he is not interested in information, just in headline grabbing stunts. Indeed, Mr Feetham's position has been to try to scare savers and depositors in respect of the security of their deposits. That clearly hasn't worked as deposits have increased since he started his campaign of scaremongering!
“More than that, Mr Feetham chose to stay out of Parliament even when we moved on with the agenda to consider important Bills on medical, financial services and environmental issues. I did expect the Opposition to return for that as they said they would, but they did not do so. I assume Mr Feetham just felt downright embarrassed to come back so quickly as that would just have highlighted the immaturity of his actions.
“If we had walked out of Parliament every time Peter Caruana said he would not provide us with more details on a question we would have spent more time out of Parliament than in it. We registered our views and got on with it in the interest of our community.
“In fact, Mr Feetham in his fit of pique did not even bother to ask us why we would not agree to provide the information he requested – which is clearly commercially sensitive, as any loan book would be of any licenced lending company. Instead he wanted to just dramatically walk out, marching his reluctant troops behind him.
“The fact of the matter is that Mr Feetham has made a mockery of Parliament by his farcical performance today. The people of Gibraltar expect their elected representatives to conduct themselves in a serious and level-headed manner. Mr Feetham and the Opposition have clearly gone over the top.”
The Government have said that “for all his bluster in relation to the GSLP/Liberal Government's magnificent Commonwealth Park development, Selwyn Figueras has not been able to deal with the nub of the issues debated in Parliament on the subject.”
