May 22nd 2015 will mark the 75th anniversary of the Evacuation of Gibraltar’s civilian population during the Second World War, with the elderly and the infirm evacuated to French Morocco, then to London, Jamaica, Madeira and later Northern Ireland.
A teacher and a prison officer are set to cycle over 2,000km from London to Gibraltar this summer to raise money for charity.
Simon Morgan, a teacher at Sacred Heart Middle School, and Mark Cooper (aka ‘Coops’), a Hospital Officer at HMP Windmill Hill, will set off on the 4th July on a gruelling 14 day cycle across France and Spain. They aim to finish on the 18th July at Casemates Square.
