The Government says it notes, “with disappointment”, the European Parliament’s objection, today, to the entry into force of the European Commission’s decision to remove certain jurisdictions, including Gibraltar, from the EU’s list of ‘high-risk’ third-countries with strategic deficiencies as regards anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (“AML/CFT”).
Financial Services Minister Albert Isola is this week attending the Bermuda Captive Insurance Conference along with a delegation from the Finance Centre Director including Director James Tipping and the senior executive insurance from Gibraltar Finance, Mike Ashton. Gibraltar's insurance regulator, Michael Oliver is also in attendance. This is the first time that Gibraltar will be represented at what is Bermuda's most important gathering of insurance companies and professionals and the visit has been coordinated with the Government of Bermuda and conference officials.
