European Commission Executive Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič, Spanish Minister for ForeignAffairs José Manuel Albares and UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron, together with the Chief Minister of Gibraltar Fabian Picardo, met in Brussels on Thursday 16th May.
Yesterday evening the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo officially opened the Ocean Views Facility before a host of guests. Unveiling a plaque at the entrance, Mr. Picardo, flanked by Social Services Minister Samantha Sacramento and Health Minister Dr. Cortes revealed that this was not only a building, but a new approach to mental health, including the introduction of new, updated legislation that address a lot of the shortcomings of the current legislation.
The Government says it regrets the Opposition’s most recent in a series of “absurd allegations” relating to the new power station project saying that the fact that the GSD’s latest press release is “laden with inconsistencies” reveals the “complete lack of care” with which the Opposition approach their work.
The Chief Minister today welcomed Leader of the Basque Group EAG-PNV in the Spanish Parliament Aitor Esteban on his first visit to Gibraltar. The meeting between Sr. Esteban, Mr. Picardo and the Deputy Chief Minister came about following an invitation made by Mr. Picardo to leaders of Spanish political parties ‘to see the reality of Gibraltar and to continue the dialogue that we have enjoyed in Madrid.’
