Man Arrested After Parachuting Off The Rock
08 May 2025

Yesterday afternoon an American man was arrested by Royal Gibraltar Police officers – after he jumped off the top of the Rock and parachuted down to Eastern Beach.
A statement from the RGP follows below:
At around 2pm today, the RGP Control Room received a call that a person had jumped from the Upper Rock Nature Reserve with a parachute.
Response Team Two officers were dispatched and arrested the 35-year-old shortly after he landed on the beach.
He was arrested on suspicion of Operating a Device Intended for Human Flight from the Nature Reserve.
This is an offence under new legislation designed to prevent base jumping and parachuting from the top of the Rock.
The man was interviewed at New Mole House and later released with a caution.
