Main Street Robbery: Four Locals Arrested

Two local men and two local male juveniles have been arrested over the past 24 hours by detectives from the RGP’s Criminal Investigation Department, on suspicion of Robbery.
The arrests follow a reported burglary at a jewellery shop in Main Street on Tuesday of last week (8th July). Response Team officers attended the scene and received the initial report, handing over responsibility to detectives from the RGP’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID), who launched an investigation shortly afterwards with support from Crime Scene Investigators (CSI). The extensive investigation included lengthy CCTV analysis, as a result of which detectives re-classified this crime from an offence of Aggravated Burglary to one of Robbery.
A number of searches in the area of the Northern Defences, and at several local residential properties, have so far led to a hammer and several items of clothing being seized. An 18 year old local man was arrested on suspicion of Robbery yesterday morning, and a 19 year old local man and two local male juveniles both aged 16, were arrested this morning on suspicion of Aiding & Abetting Robbery. The investigation is ongoing.
The RGP is appealing to anyone who was in the area of Main Street between Tuckey’s Lane and Parliament Lane, or at Engineer Lane, between 7-8pm on Tuesday 8th July, who either witnessed the incident or may have any information that could assist investigators, to contact RGP CID officers via:
