Local Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Drugs-Related Offences

A 32 year old local man has been arrested on suspicion of Driving Whilst Under the Influence of Drink or Drugs, and Possession with Intent to Supply a Controlled Class A drug.
A statement from the RGP follows below:
The arrest came about after uniformed Response Team officers stopped a locally registered vehicle in connection with an expired MVT certificate.
Whilst engaging the driver, officers observed he was in possession of a wrapper suspected to contain cocaine.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of being in Possession of a Controlled Class A drug. A roadside drugs wipe revealed the driver was under the influence of cocaine, as a result of which he was also arrested on suspicion of driving whilst under the influence of drink or drugs. A search of the vehicle by officers located a small number of wrappers containing suspected to be cocaine, as a result of which the driver was additionally arrested on suspicion of being in Possession with Intent to Supply a Controlled Class A Drug.
A subsequent search of the subject's residence resulted in the seizure of an amount of cash that was found concealed within the property, together with a number of mobile devices.
The investigation is ongoing.
