Local Man Sentenced to 14 Years for Sexual Offences against Children

90 year old Charles Emmanuel Montegriffo appeared today before the Supreme Court and was sentenced to 14 years imprisonment for a number of historical child sex offences, having previously pleaded guilty on the 23rd February 2026.
The charges included:
• Two counts of Assault of a Child Under 13 by Penetration.
• Four counts of Sexual Activity with a Child.
• One count of Encouraging or Assisting a Child to Engage in Sexual Activity.
The offences took place during the period 2016-17 and 2023-24, and after the offences were reported to the Royal Gibraltar Police in September 2024, detectives from the RGP’s Safeguarding Team conducted an extensive investigation that resulted in the charges.
The RGP continues to encourage anyone who has been a victim of sexual abuse, irrespective of how long ago this took place, not to suffer in silence, and to report the matter by contacting them on Telephone No: 200 72500 or via their dedicated online reporting portal: www.police.gi/report-online.
