Last week’s episode of Channel 5’s Gibraltar: Britain In The Sun was watched by 1.16 million people making it that broadcaster’s fifth most popular programme. More people watched the episode than tuned into Neighbours, the Australian soap which is a perennial favourite with British audiences.
As another Pageant rolls around once more, the Ministry for Culture is looking for young ladies who wish to participate as participants in the Miss Gibraltar 2014 pageant. Candidates must be aged between 17 (as at 6th June 2014) and not more than 24 years old (as at 31st December 2014). The first 10 candidates to sign up for the Pageant will each receive £400. The winner of the Pageant will represent Gibraltar at the Miss World Pageant, to be held in London, in November 2014.
The tender for the organisation, production and staging of the next four Miss Gibraltar Pageants has been jointly awarded to Stage One Productions and Santos Productions.
Following last year’s massively successful Face and Body painting festival in Gibraltar, organisers, the Gibraltar Face and Body Paint Association made the decision to host yet another spectacular event, promising contests, workshops, demos and exhibitions by award winning artists and photographers.
Famed Spanish pop singer, Maika Barbero, who previously performed at the Miss Gibraltar 2013 pageant, will return to Gibraltar on 24th January 2014 for a live concert with her band. Maika rose to fame in last year’s edition of Spanish talent show ‘La Voz’, and reached the final four contestants.
The performance will be part of her 2014 tour, presenting her debut album ‘No Return’. The record is made up of eleven original ‘pop-rock’ tracks. Nine of Maika’s singles are written and performed in english.
