Feb 11 - Libel Case Against Citypeg President Dropped by Minister Bossano

courtsThe Government has announced that regarding the libel case brought against Sr. Paco Ponce of Cross border Association Citypeg, by Minister Joe Bossano and GJBS, the three parties have reached a settlement. On 2nd February, Sr. Ponce apologised to Minister Bossano noting that the group raised a possible case of discrimination and not a personal accusation against anyone. The group claimed that they do not want to crate confrontation with the Gibraltar Government.

Feb 11 - Community Agencies Carry Out ‘Safeguarding Adults at Risk’ Training

samantha sacramentoThe Care Agency hosted the first of two ‘Safeguarding Adults at Risk’ courses, on Friday afternoon at Bleak House.

The course was carried out by individuals of Gibraltar’s different agencies, including the RGP, GHA, Sports and Leisure Authority and the Citizen’s Advice Bureau. Procedures during the training included the Safeguarding Coordinator, Safeguarding Team Manager and Investigating Officer. Friday’s training was centred around these individuals from various agencies who take on important roles within the community.

Feb 08 - Ambulance Donation to Moroccan Red Crescent

ambulance handoverThe donation of a GHA ambulance was made this morning to the Red Crescent, based in Moroccan city Chefchaouen. The Red Crescent’s Provincial Committee made a request for assistance recently. The city is situated in the Rif Mountains and has a population of just over 35,000 people.

The ambulance was handed over by Minister for Health Dr. Cortes, to Red Crescent’s Gibraltar representative, Mr. M’Hammad Moujauil.

Feb 08 - HMS Cattistock Visits Gibraltar

hms cattistockHMS Cattistock, a Royal Navy minehunter, is set to arrive in Gibraltar on Sunday for a short visit on her way to the Mediterranean, to carry out a four month NATO mission. The ship has been deployed as part of Standing NATO Mine Counter measures Group 2.

Ships from allied nations work together to defend sea routes from the threat of underwater mines and the deployment of the minehunter demonstrates the UK’s longstanding commitment to NATO and outlines the importance of the Royal Navy’s role within the organisation.

Feb 08 - Cortes Attends Overseas Territories Wildlife Safety Event

dr cortesEnvironment Minister Dr. John Cortes this week attended an event at the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Rooms in Westminster Hall. The event was hosted by MP Andrew Rosindell and the UK Overseas Territories Conservation Forum.

The event included a presentation on ‘Safeguarding the Globally Important Wildlife of the UK Overseas Territories and Crown Dependencies’ by Dr. Mike Pienkowski, Honorary Chief Executive of the Forum.
