The Faroe Islands’ Parliamentary Finance Committee are currently on the Rock on a fact-finding visit to find out how Gibraltar works politically, economically and the links with the United Kingdom and the European Union.
The Government says it notes that the public is already engaged in providing ideas to the Government and to the Chief Minister for each Budget, but nonetheless it welcomes the statement yesterday from Independent Member of Parliament, Ms Marlene Hassan Nahon, which seeks to constructively put forward ideas that can make the important Appropriation Session of the Parliament easier for people to understand and engage with.
The Government has said that the “continuing degree of inconsistency in the public statements made by the Opposition is quite extraordinary.” Number six adds that the latest example of this inconsistency is their comment on the works to refurbish Laguna Estate.
The Government has said that there has been no change in the “story line” behind the dementia facility project. Number Six says that GSD MP Roy Clinton “may not be capable of making more than one particular point in any given argument” adding that saying that the dementia facilities are a complex project and that the Government will avoid paying over the odds is true and both points are “perfectly valid.”
The Minister for Tourism, Samantha Sacramento, is attending the Institute of Travel & Tourism (ITT) Conference currently being held in the Israeli city of Tel Aviv, from 6 – 8 June.
