Albert Poggio OBE GMH will be retiring as the UK Representative for the Government of Gibraltar and Director of Gibraltar House in London, on 30th June, after 28 years of distinguished service. Number Six describes him as “the doyen of the Overseas Territories’ Representatives in the UK”.
Unite the Union has said the GSD’s Marlene Hassan Nahon’s reply on the issue of Parliamentary Pensions “is flawed”. Unite says that the Commission on Democratic and Political Reform consisting of Messrs. Canepa, Gomez, Vinet and Vasquez already made recommendations on the timetabling of new pensions for MPs.
Following the Government’s latest statement that it will appoint a Ministerial Committee to consider responses to a Command Paper on Equal Marriage, the Equality Rights Group Chairman, Felix Alvarez, has said that there is “nothing extraordinary” in Government engaging in consultations on Equal Marriage, especially as this was an approach “for which it received a clear mandate at the last elections and for which it gave a fixed June 2016 timeline”.
The Government has received 3,490 responses to its Command Paper for Consultation on Equal Marriage. The responses come from multi-signatory groups, by means of petitions and from individuals.
