The GSD has said that Mr Picardo has offered a “feeble defence” of what the party has described as the “suspect” MedDoc contracts.
Below follows a statement from the Government in reply to the GSD’s recent comments:
The Government regrets that the GSD Opposition continue to take a stance that seeks to exploit the findings of the Principal Auditor’s report for their own political gain.
The GSD has said that the award by the GSLP/Libs Government to MedDoc Limited of multi-million pound contracts “raises very significant issues of good governance and transparency.” The party says the Government needs to make a statement in Parliament at the earliest opportunity as to the action it will take in response to those findings.
A statement from the Government in reply to the GSD’s recent comments follows below:
The GSD’s latest tirade on the issue of the Principal Auditor’s Report divulges Mr Clinton’s frustrations at not getting his way. Contrary to Mr Clinton’s tantrum-like accusations, the Government has nothing to hide and nothing to be afraid of in the scrutiny of these accounts.
Below follows a statment from the GSD:
The Chief Minister’s attack on the GSD’s interim analysis of the delayed 2016-2018 Principal Auditor’s report shows his fear of being held to account publicly for the failures in the GSLP’s controls over public finance for which he, as Minister of Finance, is responsible. The way that he and his Government handle public finances show that they are systematically blocking accountability and transparency. Their statements on public finances have to be taken with a massive pinch of salt given their track record of spin, half-truths and obfuscation. They simply cannot be believed or trusted anymore.
