Apr 21 - Justice Jack Elected Middle Temple Bencher
Mr Justice Jack has been elected as a bencher of the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple. He is currently a puisne judge of the Supreme Court of Gibraltar.
Middle Temple is one of the four Inns of Court, which admit barristers to the English bar. There are three types of member of an Inn: student members, barrister members and benchers. The benchers of an Inn of Court are all senior judges and lawyers, who run the Inn.
Sir Joshua Hassan QC was a bencher of Middle Temple and the majority of members of the bar in Gibraltar have been called by Middle. Chief Justice Dudley is a current bencher.
Mr Justice Jack said: “It is a great personal honour to be elected a bencher, but it is also an honour for Gibraltar. The appointment recognises the long-standing and very special relationship between Gibraltar and the Middle Temple.”
Mr Justice (Adrian) Jack was called to the bar by Middle Temple in 1986. He was called to the New South Wales bar in 1993 and to the Munich bar as a Rechtsanwalt in 2000. He became a Recorder of the Crown Court (a part-time appointment) in England and Wales in 2009. He was appointed as a puisne judge of the Supreme Court of Gibraltar in August 2014.
