The University of Gibraltar has received a donation of £600,000 from the Parasol Foundation Trust - a major investment in its curriculum development and educational resources.

The grant will include the renaming of the University library to “The Parasol Library” along with the acquisition of new learning resources to support the University’s educational offerings.

Ms. Ruth Parasol (pictured below) is the principal benefactress and Founding Member of the International Advisory Board of the Parasol Foundation Trust.

Ms Parasol said: ‘It is great to be part of supporting and enhancing the ongoing development of the University of Gibraltar which serves an important new and growing educational function in Gibraltar that will inspire generations to come in upper education’.

The University of Gibraltar will shortly be launching its new strategy ‘Pathways for Growth and Distinction: 2017-2022’ that will outline details of the ambitious educational development initiatives planned for the next five years.

The Parasol Foundation Trust has a long history of supporting educational projects and this latest donation is further endorsement of the standard and quality of education here in Gibraltar. The Parasol Foundation Trust (formerly The Bonita Trust), was established in Gibraltar in 2004 and focuses on local and cross-border philanthropic projects in the areas of education, female enrichment, medical research, culture and disaster relief in Gibraltar, Spain, England, Israel, India and elsewhere.
