Government Condolences On Passing Of Spanish Journalist Pepe Martinez

His Majesty’s Government of Gibraltar is very saddened to hear of the passing of veteran Campo Area journalist Pepe Martinez.
A statement from the Government follows below:
Pepe first started covering the Gibraltar story in the mid-eighties for Area newspaper. He lived in Algeciras and travelled daily to the Rock to attend press conferences and to countless local events on a regular basis.
Pepe was a well-mannered amiable gentleman who made many friends across the political world as well as in the business, cultural and sporting areas. He handled the Gibraltar story in a fair manner and would get very upset when the Spanish media gave the Rock unfair treatment. Pepe was considered a good friend of Gibraltar and his passing will sorely have missed by his colleagues and those he dealt with.
HMGOG extends its sincere condolences to his immediate family and friends.
May he Rest in Peace.
