Minister for Tourism addresses Future of Travel Conference

Sustainable targets and future growth plans were key messages given by Minister for Equality, Employment, Culture and Tourism, Christian Santos, in London last week as he addressed a leading delegation of industry heads at the annual Travel Weekly Future of Travel Conference.
Minister Santos was able to update attendees on Gibraltar’s progress in the past year and ambitious plans for growth in the future, while addressing key issues including the path to reaching committed sustainable targets, a subject at the forefront for the industry.
Also speaking at the conference were the CEOs of some of the UK’s largest outbound operators; Jet2 Holidays, easyJet Holidays and Love Holidays.
Political Editor of the Sunday Times, Tim Shipman, gave a backdrop to the UK’s economy and further sessions covered the outlook of travel distribution and new legislation pending, post the UK’s exit from the EU.
Minister Santos was accompanied by his Principal Secretary, April Smart-Devincenzi, and Visit Gibraltar UK Head of Marketing & Media, Tracey Poggio.
Commenting on his day at the conference, Minister Santos said: “This is the third time Gibraltar has addressed the delegation at this event. It is a valuable opportunity for Gibraltar to be heard among some of the most influential sellers to the UK outbound market particularly at this important chapter for the destination.”
