Royal Gibraltar Regiment Soldiers Deployed To Estonia

Nineteen soldiers and officers of the Royal Gibraltar Regiment (RG) have deployed to Estonia on Operation Cabrit, a NATO mission in the Baltics.
A statement from British Forces Gibraltar follows below:
The six-month deployment will see the RG soldiers integrated into a British armoured cavalry Regiment, the Royal Dragoon Guards (RDG), working as a combined arms battlegroup alongside Allies from the French Army and Estonian Defence Forces.
The British Army’s deployments to Estonia are its chief contribution to NATO’s Enhanced Forward Presence (EFP).
EFP sees four multinational battlegroups stationed across the Baltics, engaged in a rigorous schedule of large-scale exercises: developing interoperability, reassuring Allies, and deterring regional adversaries.
In Estonia, the NATO battlegroup - the Forward Land Force (Estonia) - is held at high readiness as part of the 1st Estonian Brigade and is integrated within Estonia’s National Military Defence Plan.
As light role Infanteers, RG soldiers will therefore gain unique insight into the equipment, techniques, tactics, and procedures of an armoured cavalry regiment.
Joining the RDG’s Sniper, Surveillance, and Assault Pioneer platoons, the deployment is set to provide RG soldiers a host of new skills and competencies that will enhance the Regiment’s capabilities moving forward.
Whether undertaking battlefield studies in the border towns, Nordic skiing Adventurous Training, or the infamous Cold Weather Operations Course (including submersion in a frozen lake), there is no doubt that much waits in store for the RG troops as they prove their ability and embrace the culture and climate of our Baltic Allies in the months to come.
