The event has been organised by Race Director Dion Mifsud in collaboration with The Gibraltar Tourist Board (GTB). This event is part of the Ministry of Tourism’s plan to expand on sports-led events together with the Gibraltar Sports and Leisure Authority and the Ministry of Sport.
The GTB hosted an exhibitor stand at the Marathon Show to promote this unique race and Gibraltar as a destination. Minister Santos attended the Show to hold meetings with promoters, exhibitors and other interested parties.
The race will start on the 28th February with an early morning challenge at 7:00am, and a late afternoon race commencing at 5:00pm to make sure competitors can fully appreciate the views on the route under the setting sun. The grand finale will take place on the 1st March.
Participants will navigate a demanding course through the World War II Tunnels, along Gibraltar’s Bastion Walls, past the Moorish Castle, up to the top of the Rock at O’Hara’s Battery, and into St. Michael’s Cave. This event is designed to combine endurance sport with Gibraltar’s tourism sites, embracing an appreciation of Gibraltar’s resilience, military history, organic landscape and community.
