Ministry of Employment Launches Insurance Apprenticeship

The Ministry of Employment, in collaboration with the Gibraltar Insurance Institute, has announced the launch of the apprenticeship initiative, aimed at supporting entry into the insurance industry. Now in its fifth cycle, the programme forms part of the Ministry’s broader commitment to skills development and job readiness for young people in Gibraltar.
Led by Nicholas Pecino, President of the Gibraltar Insurance Institute, the programme offers paid work placements across a range of insurance functions, including underwriting, compliance, customer service, legal and accounts. Apprentices will also benefit from study support, mentoring, and a structured qualification framework, where they will be able to obtain a qualification under the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII).
The initiative is open to school leavers and university graduates seeking a rewarding and long-term career in a growing sector.
The Minister for Employment, Christian Santos, welcomed the announcement, stating:
“I am proud to support a programme that continues to open doors for young people in Gibraltar. By combining practical training, professional mentorship and financial support, this apprenticeship is giving participants a real chance to thrive in a key sector of our economy.”
The Ministry encourages interested individuals to submit their CV by email to [email protected] by no later than 31st August 2025.
