Government of Gibraltar Represented at SNP Conference in Aberdeen

The Government was represented at this year’s Scottish National Party Conference in Aberdeen by the Executive Director of Gibraltar House and Head of Geopolitical Advice, Tyrone Duarte, together with Adriana Lopez and Aaron Santos from No.6 Convent Place. This engagement concludes a busy and successful Party Conference season for the team at Gibraltar House.
The Government of Gibraltar has maintained a presence at the SNP Conference for nearly a decade, reflecting the long-standing friendship and shared values between Gibraltar and Scotland. Although no Minister was able to attend this year’s Conference due to Parliamentary business in Gibraltar, the Government ensured its continued engagement through its representation at the event.
HMGoG hosted a reception during the Conference which was extremely well attended. The First Minister of Scotland, John Swinney MSP, and the Cabinet Secretary for Constitution, External Affairs and Culture, Angus Robertson MSP, honoured the event with their attendance. Both ministers addressed the assembled guests and spoke about the shared values of self- determination which define the peoples of Gibraltar and Scotland.
Mr Duarte delivered an address on behalf of the Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo, and the Government of Gibraltar where he reaffirmed Gibraltar’s friendship with Scotland. He highlighted the shared values of self-determination, democracy, fairness, equality and pride in being a people.
He also conveyed a message of optimism regarding the recently agreed treaty between Gibraltar and the European Union, emphasising that Gibraltar’s sovereignty remains fully protected while ensuring continued fluidity at the border, economic prosperity and stability for workers, families and businesses.
