St Mary’s Celebrates Michael Rosen Day With ‘Funny Food’ Poetry Activities

St Mary’s Lower Primary School was delighted to join schools around the world in celebrating Michael Rosen Day, an annual event dedicated to making poetry fun, engaging, and accessible for all. This year’s theme, “Funny Food” inspired plenty of excitement across the school.
Our Year 1 and 2 learners took part in a live virtual session with world-renowned author and poet Michael Rosen, watching him perform some of his much-loved food themed poems and share stories about his own favourite foods.
The celebration marked a fantastic end to the week, as both year groups have recently been exploring Rosen’s latest poetry collection, Out of This World, as well as enjoying his classic story We’re Going on a Bear Hunt.
The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and the school looks forward to taking part in Michael Rosen Day again next year.
