The Minister for Health, Care and Business, Gemma Arias-Vasquez, has thanked the Gibraltar Fire and Rescue Service for its practical support to the GHA Ambulance Service during the recent period of severe weather.
With high winds in the area of the current ambulance bay, the Gibraltar Fire and Rescue Service acted swiftly to provide a secure operating base for the Ambulance at its fire station. This ensured that frontline ambulance services were able to continue responding to emergencies without interruption, while safeguarding staff during challenging conditions.
Minister Arias-Vasquez praised the leadership of the Gibraltar Fire and Rescue Service and the professionalism shown by both services.
Minister Arias-Vasquez said: “I want to place on record my sincere thanks to the Gibraltar Fire and Rescue Service, and in particular Chief Fire Officer Colin Ramirez, for the immediate and generous support provided to our Ambulance Service during severe weather.
“I am also extremely proud of our ambulance crews, who adapted swiftly and continued to deliver emergency care in difficult circumstances. The cooperation and camaraderie shown between both services is a powerful example of the Gibraltar spirit and of public servants working together when it matters most.”
